Lakeland Leather is a family business, and we like to feel it is a happy, lively place to work.
It all started back in 1955 when Jack Standring opened his first shop in Ambleside. That's over 60 years ago, and his son, Richard, is still active in our business today.
Jack was an adventurer, happiest heading for the nearest Lakeland peak. This spirit for adventure is the life blood of Lakeland. That doesn't mean we're pioneers of undiscovered lands - but we are constantly seeking out something different for our customers.
You see, our passion is for leather goods; the highest quality leather goods. And we soon learned that when you trade in leather no two garments are the same. Every hide is unique and needs the eye of an expert to help reveal the beauty of the raw material. This is our daily adventure and we love it!
Our staff should share this passion, and believe, like Jack did, in producing great products and delivering great customer service. We want our staff to care, listen and then do their absolute. After all, we can’t ask anymore.
Please get in touch if you feel you have the passion, adventurous spirit and customer focus to help make our business great.
Our Head Office and Warehouse are located in our home village of Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District. We now have 15 shops throughout the country.
We value our staff as one of our biggest assets, along with our lovely customers! We believe that looking after our staff, helps them look after our customers. That means happy staff and happy customers… so, we’re all happy. We’ve created a package of rewards and benefits that includes competitive pay, bonuses and staff discounts.
As you would expect from a leading retailer, rates of pay and general conditions are excellent.
When you join Lakeland Leather, you will receive thorough training to ensure you are confident in performing your job to the best of your ability. We provide regular and ongoing training sessions.
Staff receive a discount on clothing and other items bought both for themselves, or as a present for family members.
Lakeland Leather operates a generous bonus scheme which is paid monthly as achieved.
These are regular working hours – depending on your job role.
Full-time store hours vary depending on the store location and time of year. Normal hours of work are what you would expect from a high street retailer, through Monday to Sunday.
We plan part-time hours around business needs, although we try to take into account personal circumstances.
You get 28 days, during the first year, which increases to 33 days after 6 years (this includes Bank Holidays).
Because of the nature of the retail business, there are times when staff are expected to work Bank Holidays. Full-time staff and part-time staff receive generous supplements when working these days.
Store vacancies are normally advertised in the local press. However, you can email us at email@example.com and we will keep your information on file.
We currently have no vacancies.
From time to time we require temporary staff during busy periods. Please check this page to find out when we will be hiring, or send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will contact you if a suitable vacancy comes up.
